RemSorb® Colloidal Carbon

High-Mobility Activated Carbon Suspension for In Situ Adsorption

Product Overview

RemSorb® is a patented, ready-to-use colloidal activated carbon suspension designed for rapid, in situ adsorption of organic contaminants in groundwater. Engineered for outstanding mobility and permanent deposition in the subsurface, RemSorb creates highly effective adsorption barriers that stop contaminant migration and support long-term site stability.

Developed for robust performance even in challenging conditions, RemSorb is ideal for both source zone treatment and plume management, providing fast concentration reductions and long-lasting protection.

Features & Benefits

Immediate Plume Cutoff

Quickly adsorbs organic contaminants, reducing concentrations within weeks and preventing further migration. Effective on dissolved and sorbed contaminants.

High Controlled Subsurface Mobility

The colloidal formulation is optimized to move easily through the aquifer matrix during injection, ensuring uniform distribution in the target zone. Within a few days, RemSorb adheres to the soil matrix, preventing the risk of carbon being washed out.

Safe and Environmentally Compatible

Produced with extremely high-quality activated carbons approved for use around drinking water resources.

Long-Term Effectiveness

Once deposited, the fine activated carbon particles remain in place, creating an in situ barrier that can last for many years with no maintenance.

Supports Natural Attenuation

By retaining contaminants on its surface, RemSorb creates conditions that promote microbial degradation over time. Amendments can be added to support microbial activity.

Ideal for Sensitive or Low-Impact Sites

Provides rapid and reliable results without excavation, pumping systems, or significant site disruption.

How It Works

RemSorb® is ideal for the in situ treatment of:

  • Petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH)
  • Aromatics (BTEX, etc.)
  • PAHs
  • MTBE and ETBE
  • Chlorinated and halogenated organic contaminants
  • Pesticides
  • Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)
  • Almost any organic contaminant
  • A wide range of dissolved-phase organic pollutants

Common deployment scenarios include:

  • Permeable reactive barriers (PRBs)
  • Plume cutoff walls
  • Source zone stabilization
  • Low-impact remediation at active industrial or commercial properties

Delivery & Handling

RemSorb® can be applied using:

  • Direct-push injection
  • Injection wells
  • Valved pipe systems
  • Backpack or low-pressure injection for shallow applications

The product arrives as a stable, ready-to-use suspension requiring minimal on-site preparation. Its fine particle size and engineered stabilizers ensure predictable injection and reliable distribution.
