Product Overview
Oxygel™ is a next-generation inorganic oxygen-releasing gel designed to support aerobic bioremediation in anoxic aquifers and sediments. When mixed with groundwater, Oxygel slowly releases oxygen for up to six months, providing a long-lasting electron acceptor source to stimulate naturally occurring aerobic microorganisms and accelerate the degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons and other aerobic-biodegradable contaminants.
Developed for easy handling and application, Oxygel is supplied as a pumpable liquid gel—offering improved subsurface distribution compared to powder-based oxygen products. Its stability and controlled oxygen release make it ideal for enhanced natural attenuation (ENA) strategies and low-impact treatment scenarios.

Features & Benefits
Sustained Oxygen Release
Produces a slow, steady supply of dissolved oxygen for up to 6 months, supporting long-term biodegradation.
Improved Subsurface Distribution
Pumpable semi-solid gel spreads more uniformly than powder oxidants.
Remains in place after injection, maximizing contact time and treatment efficiency.
Compatible With a Range of Remediation Approaches
Effective as a stand-alone aerobic remedy or as part of a treatment train strategy.
Complements ISCO and surfactant mobilization approaches when used sequentially.
Enhanced Aerobic Biodegradation
Supports microbial degradation of TPH, BTEX, MTBE, ETBE, PAHs, residual LNAPL, and other aerobic-biodegradable compounds.
Restores oxygen-limited aquifers where natural attenuation has stalled.
Safe & Simple Handling
Designed for user-friendly application with better field control.
No dusting, safer handling compared to powdered oxygen-release compounds.
How It Works
When Oxygel comes into contact with groundwater, it gradually breaks down to release oxygen into the subsurface, acting as a sustainable terminal electron acceptor. This oxygen supports native aerobic microorganisms that oxidize hydrocarbons and related contaminants.
Its semi-solid nature keeps the product localized in the treatment zone, preventing rapid washout and ensuring prolonged oxygen availability.
Applications
Oxygel is ideal for:
